***PRICE REDUCED***
"Sapphire" is a very high specification Legend 36 built in the UK by Luhrs Marine. She is entirely suitable for liveaboard or long term cruising away from marina support. She is easy to sail either single or short-handed, with an extremely comfortable accommodation to suit the most discerning partner. She sails very well when handled correctly, and is often seen by other yachts only from behind. The B&R rig is proven to be reliable. Test sail available for the seriously interested.
The price reflects the state of the boat and the high level of extra equipment. Offers will be considered if you don't want them, and we take them away.
She has a fully plumbed-in HFL 4kVA genset, operable from the saloon, providing 15A at 230V. 2X50A Sterling battery chargers and a Sterling alternator regulator ensure plenty of domestic power available. 5X105Ah domestic Lifeline AGMs still operating at full capacity and never discharged more than 50% since new. Sterling battery management panel, digital AC ammeter for mains stuff. Also 2X75Ah batteries for engine and generator (separate)
260W solar panels monitored by an "Outback" MPPT regulator/charger, providing up to 108Ah on a good day, with 18A possible instantaneously.
Heating is Eberspacher D4, recently overhauled £500 with receipts and replaced parts available. Hot water by engine, generator or shore power. Heating is reliable if kept serviced and fed clean diesel. The diesel tank can be accessed for internal cleaning by hand, by yourself. I do it once a year.
She has been very well maintained by myself and has been our only home for the last 3 years. This fact should not suggest to you "over-use", but more "careful use". Marina support, ie shore power etc, is simply not required whilst cruising. She carries enough water for 10 days for two people, including showers.
There are many additions and extras and spares for everything that needs them. More descriptions follow: if you can't see them by scrolling down, please look for tabs at the top of this page.
She is truly liveaboard-capable in great comfort. She has logged 5000nm in 4 years, from Scotland down the W coast to Cornwall, Channel Islands, Normandy, North and South Brittany, but has always been sailed in kind conditions (due to her being our home). The rig has not been stressed and neither has the hull. We never wanted our belongings thrown around the boat.
She is up for sale because we now want to "do the canals" on a narrowboat as we get a bit older, but before we get too old to work the locks.
This yacht is guaranteed "ready to go" well cared-for with everything you need, all in VGC and everything in working order. All mechanics will have been serviced prior to sale.

The engine is a Volvo MD2030 which is basically a Perkins, and is stamped so on almost all of the engine. It produces around 7 kts at full power, 6kts at cruise. It looks, sounds and performs as new. It drives a Volvo folding prop which gives less drag under sail and more efficiency under power. It is regularly serviced and will have been just before purchase. The servicing has been carried out by myself with great care and attention, probably more so than a professional. It was professionally serviced until the warranty expiration.
The prop is fitted with a ropecutter. We don't know if this works, but we've never been fouled by a rope in 5000nm!
HFL 4kW generator, fed from main fuel tank. This too has been self-serviced and is totally reliable. It feeds the boat just like shore power and is switchable from the saloon.
The little Johnson 3.5 2-stroke is a delight, light to lift on and off the Plastimo rib in total safety. This too has been self-serviced and runs well all the time. |

The hull is GRP and has all the standard Legend features plus the added bonus of their antimonous lead deep keel, making her more stable than the 'normal' Legends. More details of Legend hulls can easily be found on other websites, in particular
http://www.huntermarine.com/Difference/DifferenceIndex.html
which is well worth a visit. Please note that my Legend has MANY more features and extras than the ones shown on Hunter's website. I have not included photos of the construction because it is standard and easily seen on the above website. |

| Accommodation |
|
| |
The accommodation is better than any other boat of this length. It is clearly designed for comfort and has certainly been so for the duration of our occupation. It is the only yacht I have seen where I can lie at full stretch watching the telly. There are many added features to aid long-term occupation. Examples are
A heavyweight canvas lee cloth on the portside saloon berth, rolled up and stored under the berth. Clips to handrail above berth.
Memory foam mattresses in cabins, split for individual comfort. Lots of shelving and storage additions in lockers. Spice racks in galley. Weems & Plath gymballed oil lamp in saloon. Upholstery protected from new by use of "throws", not shown in photos.
4 washing lines in shower room, retractable. Fully sealed "wetroom" shower (the standard one is leaky into the bilge)
Proper domestic fridge. Icebox is good as a small freezer. Fridge fans to aid ventilation and hence improve fridge efficiency.
Added water bag tank under one saloon seat. Much added woodwork under seats and in lockers to improve storage.
Also fitted is an electric fan heater mounted within the port side seating. See photo. This provides heating from shore power or generator in the event of diesel heating failure. A real bonus is an extra hot air outlet in the shower. You really need to have showered in a cold boat shower room to appreciate that.
The stereo is also a DVD player feeding direct to the LCD TV, with Mordant-Short bookshelf Hi-Fi speakers. Can clear out an anchorage in half an hour! (We don't actually do that!) Speakers also in cockpit, selectable.
There are a few tastefully-placed picture frames, these will remain with the pictures removed. Behind them the wood is now a different colour! The clocks and brass instruments will also remain for the same reason.
You will not find a better 36-footer than this for accommodation. |

| Equipment |
|
| |
This yacht is superbly equipped. From the stern to the bow:
Seago 4-man canister liferaft recently serviced
Fortress anchor, chain and rope, in rear locker
Plastimo 2.6m rib with Johnson 3.5 outboard, on davits when required
Bimini over cockpit
Tailored seat cushions in cockpit
Flotation aids
2X130W solar panels mounted as "dodgers", tiltable, MPPT controller and charger, providing up to 108 Ah on a sunny day
Oversized Delta anchor at bow on 45m chain and 30m of 18mm octoplait
2nd oversized Fortress anchor on 15m chain and 40mm of 14mm octoplait at bow
"Wrap-around" storm or spare jib.
The dinghy takes our 2 Brompton folding bikes, ourselves, and all our shopping. It also takes 4 adults with safety and stability. The bikes fit nicely into the lazarette as shown. The bikes are for sale separately, since we may take them with us.
There is about 200m+ of warps and ropes, with warp snubbers on head, stern and springs. 8XF3 fenders, mostly in "socks" to prevent noise.
All these type of boats suffer from wave slap at the stern. Included here is a "slap silencer" which is 99% effective and takes 5 minutes to set up.
There is a "Topclimber" single-handed mast climbing device.
Many other extra equipment described later if I remember to include it.

| Sails & Spars | |
| |
Sails are in good condition. All spars by Selden, including a genoa pole mounted on the face of the mast. Selden rodkicker, adjusted to support the boom without using the topping lift. Enables topping lift use for MOB recovery. With the exception of the pole, all sails and spars are as standard Legend, with in-mast reefing main.
She is easily sailed by one competent person. |

| Navigation Equipment |
|
| |
Well if it's available, it is here. Raymarine C70 chartplotter, RC400 stand-alone plotter at the helm, with 2 X 28G Navionics Gold Europe cartridges. Raymarine GPS feeding the main nav system. Second GPS feeding a Comar CSB200 AIS, which also transmits. The RC400 is a 3rd GPS. ICS Nav6 instrument repeater/Navtext receiver. Nasa Weatherman. Furuno Fax-207 Weather Fax. Silva S15 VHF radio plus 3 handhelds, one in Grab bag with spare batts. Full wheel autopilot and handheld remote control. Raymarine radar, overlaid on chartplotter. Smart heading gyro to aid autopilot and MARPA stability.
The AIS is an absolute godsend on night channel crossings, plus we are seen by other ships.
There are many redundances, including instrument data outputs on the dashboard to connect to a PC, running suitable software such as RayTech or Maxsea. If the main GPS fails, the AIS one replaces it and you don't know it's happened.
All information is displayed at the helm. Note that the wheel is leather covered, a real bonus on a cold day, or even a hot one.
Many pilot books and charts. |
