Owners Comments

After five years of owning a new Legend 26, we thought Legend boats could not be beaten overall for their internal space, comfort, value, and sailing performance. We therefore bought Fairwind 11 at the 2001 London Boat Show.

Fairwind 11 is fully equipped for sailing in all European and home waters. We have sailed without any serious incident with Rally Portugal, and on to Gibralter, Menorca, Sardinia, Rome, the Cote d`Azur, finally wintering once in the centre of Paris.

Fairwind 11 is easy to sail with in-mast main, and furling jib, All lines come back to the cockpit so there is no need to go forward. The mainsheet traveller on top of the stainless arch creates a very safe and an uncluttered cockpit.

Most of the time Ann & I sail alone. We did have the benefit of our family as crew for our two fun races. Fairwind 11 won the 2002 Legend Fun race at Cowes. In the 2008 Round the Island handicap race against 1,875 yachts, she averaged 6 knots over 9 hours 20 minutes.

Fairwind 11 is now berthed at La Roche Bernard marina on the river Vilaine, south Brittany, near Quiberon Bay, a large sheltered sailing area. The annual berth cost is 1,765 euros including Passport Escales ( free berthing for at least 2 days in over more than 40 marinas around Brittany).

Fairwind 11 has been professionally maintained annually, to a very high standard regardless of cost, including the checking of keel bolts, steering, rigging and sails in 2012.

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, as we are now both over 80.
