We have a 10.5 metre Dutch made, deisel powered, steel cruiser. 'SUZANNA'
Origanally a Dutch sailing boat 'Schouw' converted to a motor cruiser or 'vedette'
She sleeps 4 comfortably plus 2 more in the galley... we usually accomodate 4 adults and 1 child.
She is 3.8 metres wide. Nicely converted inside and out, fully equiped and out, capable of doing any of the french inland waters and also very seaworthy. (should you fancy hopping from one port to another on the Med.)
She's powered by a DAF 475 six cylinder deisel engine.
'SUZANNA' is moored 6 kms from Carcassonne on the Midi Canal. We've had her for two and a half years now and we have had some great family holidays exploring the oldest and most beautiful canal in France plus this year we ventured on the Tarn River and we hope to continue to do so for many yerars.
We only use the boat for three or four weeks in school holidays and the odd weekend trip and so a lot of the time she sits around doing nothing. We have therefore decided to seek share partner/s rather than sell her and go back to hiring sterile plastic boats for our holidays.
Boating costs here are minimal compared to the UK and as we live here all year round we regularly run the engine, check everything, service her and keep her in good order.
The attraction for any interested parties is that they can have part ownship of a good sound vessel in the sunny South of France for the same price as a narrowboat share in cloudy England and not have to worry about the boat between holidays.
Having only recently come up with this idea we aren't fixed yet on how it would work and are open to discussion, but basically we are looking to sell a half share or 3 quarter shares. The boat is worth 40,000 euros.
In order you use a vessel on the French inland waters you need to have an inland waterway license or a sea license from any european country so there's no point in contacting us if you haven't got one.
We are quite happy to pick people up from Carcassonne airport and take them out to visit the boat. Only trully interested people should apply as we are busy people and don't want to waste either your time nor ours.

So where is it? Not USA as no hurricanes; not Caribbean as too many facilities.
We refer to Western Australia (Swan River, Fremantle and Perth to some …but there are many other places).
Isn’t it a bit far away? Most people don’t realise that Perth is only 8998 miles from London and if you fancy a stop over in Mauritius it’s on the way.
What type of boat is best?
With the low cost fuel and so many places to visit a sports motor cruiser is the preferred choice; especially as this permits bridge clearance for the Swan River.
How do I charter one? Like most places in the world you cannot (unless it’s a skippered one). The answer is a boat share which in Australia is incredibly inexpensive, at only £539 per week for a SeaRay Sundancer. The saving in hotels alone pays for this. Of course with a boat share there is a capital investment, in this case, £14,850 but you get most this back (less depreciation) when you finish.
Interested? I am offering my fifth share in Sea>Rapier having used it now for three cruises, usually for four weeks at a time. Last year I had it all over Christmas and the New Year (where else could you get a vacation at this cost for that period). I get a long summer window of use by letting the local Aussie sharers have it the rest of the year.

My wife and I are looking to purchase a 25% to 50% share in a boat, moored on the Thames, in Berkshire or Buckinghamshire. We would of course contribute to its MRO costs, mooring fees and annual insurance premiums in proportion to our shareholding and would obviously pay for the fuel we use.
Our ideal boat would be a well maintained twin engined diesel, with a steel hull, and 4 to 8 berths, but other types of specification will also be considered. Onboard cooking and dining facilities, shower and toilet are however essential.
