28’ open fishing boat, unfinished project due to ill health. Wood hull, ex-commercial fishing boat. Comes with GPS, radar, fish finder and VHF. All electronics have been removed for safe storage. Fitted with Ford Mermaid engine which is in need to repair/replacement due to submersion. The boat is currently ashore in Rye and will need little work to the hull to finish. Mainly re-painting. Some new deck boards are needed on top, and another coat of paint. Some wiring may also be required. The boat is still fitted with a working pot hauler (jib needed) which could be a useful tool, or removed and sold. Pennie is a beautiful widebeam houseboat on a fully residential mooring in West London. There is a cabin with double bed in the stern, with a sky light hatch and loads of storage space. The wheelhouse leads into the rest of the boat, with bathroom, storage room, galley and a living room.
Pennie has a Webasto diesel central heating system, a solid fuel stove and double glazing throughout. The boat is extremely well insulated and is toasty in the winter and a really nice temperature in the Summer. TV areal, telephone land line and 240 volt electricity hook up can be easily disconnected if you want to go out for a cruise.
The boat is powered by a 70hp Perkins diesel engine and although Pennie is not the speediest boat on the canals, she chugs along nicely.
The Mooring is part of a private, gated development backing onto woodworking shop (free offcuts for the stove!) a car mechanic and motorbike mechanic. There are 4 boats moored in total, who share a mooring room with toilet, shower, washing machine and dryer.
A secure car parking space also comes with the mooring.
10 minute walk to train station which gets you to Paddington in 15 minutes. |

The Mustang 30 was the first design specifically to the CHS Rule (now IRC) by Paul Handley who also designed the RS K6 keelboat and is a well respected racing design with around 30 built between 1988 and 2002. Moving away from the wide hull and crew balanced IOR concept, originally with a wing keel now updated to the deep fin and bulb of later versions, she is ideally suited to a crew of between 3 and 5, has the ability to plane off wind and represents a low cost way of enjoying exhilarating high performance sailing in a highly manoeuvrable boat while giving a sense of stability due to the well balanced fractional rig and deep fin and bulb keel. Ideal for club racing and with basic accommodation for 4 adults can be enjoyable for passage races as well.
Revolver, built in 1991, has been carefully set up for racing and regularly exceeds 10 knots (the record is 16.6). She meets RORC Category 4 and with some additional equipment would easily come back up to Category 3.
She is extremely light on the helm and with a large rudder is very responsive. A straightforward swept back spreader rig, moderate mainsail and three-quarter foretriangle with a 140% overlap Genoa and a blade jib for above 16kn is all we normally carry. The large Westaway Spinnaker is easy to hoist and recover from a hatch bag. The older heavy spinnaker is valuable for use in marginal and short crewed situations.
Wintered ashore and carefully maintained and well equipped with new Navman instruments. professionally maintained Yanmar 1GM10 diesel. |
