Lagos, Portugal Faro Portugal|
Our yacht is currently moored at Lagos Marina, Portugal and has been in her current ownership since 2016. We bought her to sail around the world, unfortunately our plans have changed and we now reluctantly offer her for sale to let someone else continue her adventures.
Only Twenty five of these much sought after 50 foot Farr Pilothouse yachts were built. (Farr Horizon is hull number 10). These yachts were commissioned by ‘BSI’ and were designed by Bruce Farr who was asked to design a fast luxury Bluewater cruising yacht which could be sailed in comfort by a couple and go just about anywhere in the world. He succeeded in this. She is a superb sea boat.
Model: 50 Pilothouse
Hull material: Fibreglass (GRP)
Cruising speed: 7.5 knots
Max speed: 9.5 knots
Air Draft: 23.5m
Electrical system: 24v
Fitted with stainless steel water and fuel tanks with ample supplies of both fuel and water aboard. Farr Horizon has been fitted with additional water and fuel tanks and she carries approx 950 litres of both fuel and water. She also has a 160l black water holding tank.
Farr Horizon has been meticulously maintained and she is in superb condition throughout and ready for new adventures.
She is a three cabin layout with 6 berths. The interior is fitted out in light oak and is in truly superb condition. She has cream vinyl headlining with oak accents and flush fitted down lighters. All lighting throughout the boat has been upgraded and is now LED. The cabin sole is finished in teak and holly. All three heads are finished in white with blue Corian worktops fitted in the heads and also the galley.
The aft cabin has a centreline double island berth fitted underneath the cockpit which opens up the aft area of the cabin giving generous stowage and a walk round berth, even a sofa on the starboard side. The en-suite is fitted with a freshwater vacuum toilet, shower, basin and one of the units here also hides a Soba BabyNova washing machine.
The walkthrough galley (between the aft cabin and saloon) has microwave oven, a Force 10 gas oven, a seagull fresh water filter system for drinking water, a top loading fridge and a separate top loading freezer. (There is also an ice maker for those long hot summer days).
The raised saloon seating area has a panoramic view out of the windows and the saloon floor has a large hatch which is raised on hydraulic rams and gives fantastic access to the engine room and this area also houses the 8kva Fischer Panda generator and ‘sea fresh’ water maker.
The engine is a Yanmar 4JH3-DTE, 125hp turbo diesel intercooled unit mated to a KMH4A gearbox with shaft drive which is fitted with a Maxprop feathering propeller.
The engine has 2950 hours.
The navigation area is on the port side of the saloon area and has an outward facing chart table with navigation instruments easily to hand. The chart table seat is fitted with a hydraulic ram allowing the chair to be raised to see forward should you desire.
Forward of the saloon there is a day head to port and to starboard is a small double cabin which makes an ideal sea berth. Fitted above the bed is a pipe cot. This cabin also houses the ‘bosuns locker’ where spares, parts, filters, fan belts, etc etc are stored.
Further forward is another double cabin with island berth and an en-suite head with walk in shower.
On deck (forward of this cabin) there is access to a cavernous sail locker which is watertight and isolated from the rest of the hull. This forms one section of the three separate watertight sections incorporated into the design. The second is the main living area and the third is the full width lazerette across the stern of the boat.
Lewmar 24v anchor windlass (new 2019) fitted in the chain locker with 70m of chain and a 30kg stainless steel Bruce anchor.
Two Lewmar 66 ECST electric primary winches fitted in the cockpit along with two Lewmar 48 ECST electric outhaul/mainsheet winches, and two further Lewmar 44 manual winches. There are a further two Lewmar deck winches fitted at the base of the mast. The Genoa cars and mainsheet track are Lewmar Ocean size 2 with 4:1 car control lines. The Genoa tracks have been fitted with additional cars for the cutter jib.
There is a full cockpit enclosure and Bimini in blue Sunbrella fabric.
At the stern there is a ‘scanstrut’ pole which supports the Raymarine Quantum Radar dome.
The mast is three spreader rig by Selden with hydraulic in mast furling and a hydraulic vang supporting the boom. The backstay is also fitted with a hydraulic ram to adjust tension and is operated by a panel in the cockpit.
The Genoa furler is also hydraulic
The mainsail is an Elvstrom FLC with vertical battens and the Genoa is made by Doyle.
