Jambo is a charming gas free 53’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 2010 by Alchemy Boats. She was fitted out by Geoff Sanders in a mix of light melamine with ash trim, and ash faced ply, and was last blacked in July 2023, with 4 new anodes fitted.
The cratch covered well deck is 3’5”, with plenty of space for a table and chairs.
Steps lead into the 11’11” saloon. Here is a new Snug sofa, Arada Hamlet solid fuel stove, 24” LG 24v, fold up table, and a range of storage.
The 9’ galley follows, with granite worktops, stainless steel sink, 230v Bosch fridge, 230v Bosch freezer, Heritage Uno diesel range (serviced July 2023), and plenty of cupboards, drawers, and shelves, and a wine rack and larder cupboard too!
Next is the 5’0” walkthrough bathroom, with a quadrant corner shower with tiled surround, ceramic wash basin, and Compoost composting toilet.
The 9’1” bedroom is next, with a 6’0” x 5’0” pull out linear bed, two half height wardrobes, and more cupboards. When not in use, the mattress folds over and the bed base pushes in, to create more space.
Stepping up into the 3’10” engine room, the Sole Mini 44 engine is housed below. This was new in 2012, and was serviced last in March 2023.
Another step leads out onto the 4’ stern deck, with an unusual trad deck pram cover to protect from the elements.
She is centrally heated by an Eberspacher diesel fired system connected to 3 radiators and a towel rail, controlled by a Nest wifi controller. Hot water is via the engine, Eberspacher, and immersion.
All of the windows, and all but one of the portholes, are double glazed, helping to keep the boat warm. The windows in the saloon, galley, and bathroom also act as side hatches, bringing in extra light and fresh air when needed.
12v power is provided by 4x 150ah AGM deep cycle domestics (new July 2022) with a separate starter, topped up by 640w of solar with a Victron MPPT solar charge controller. 240v power is via a Victron Mulitplus 3kw inverter/charger, or landline. A Victron battery monitor and galvanic isolator are also installed.
Lighting on board is LED throughout.
