Imagine high end luxury living on the European canals and waterways. HeliOx is more than a Dutch barge, she offers a live aboard lifestyle that is not found on most barges. The original steel riveted hull was constructed in the Netherlands in 1911. She was used for hauling creosote throughout the Netherlands at the height of her working life. HeliOx's new life as a live aboard luxury luxemotor began in 2008.
Updates have been made continuously over the past ten years in order to present to you today this stunning home for some very special people. HeliOx has been modified with enough solar power and a water filtration system that allows for off grid living and mooring in pristine areas of beauty and privacy that are not afforded to most boats on the canals and rivers today.
The interior of HeliOx has been embellished with a designer's flare; custom window coverings, Farrow and Ball paint, Italian designer Fornasetti "Acquario" wallpaper, whirlpool tub/shower, Italian and Spanish tile, etc. Many, many more design highlights that must be seen to be appreciated.
The absolute best feature of HeliOx is the outdoor living space on the aft deck. The very large wheelhouse has double doors opening out to the luxurious living area on the rear deck where most of your hours of daylight will be spent in the cruising season.
HeliOx has cruised all the major rivers and canals in Europe with ease, including the historic and beautiful Canal du Midi. From Bordeaux to Strasbourg, Paris to Avignon, Holland, Belgium and beyond, she has been a delight to captain and live aboard. As our European experience comes to a close, her new owners are out there waiting for their own “la vie est belle” adventure.
HeliOx is designed for luxury cruising but would afford anyone luxurious apartment living on a permanent mooring in any vibrant urban European city such as Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, etc.
Hull survey was completed in October 2017.
ES-TRIN/TRIWV European waterways safety certification has been completed as of June 2019.

HeliOx offers the ultimate design for a cruising lifestyle. As full time live aboard owners, we have had the pleasure of exploring other Dutch barges along the waterways in France and are always reminded of how much we enjoy the design of HeliOx even more than when we first purchased her. She has a very large mid-rear wheelhouse with double rear doors opening onto an expansive aft deck which allows for amazing outdoor living at least six months of the year. We spend many hours in this area after cruising ; socializing, eating, cooking, reading, watching films outdoors (screen and projector), etc. This is made even easier with the Weber gas grill attached to the rear railing for convenient grilling and the teak center post folding dining table. The aft deck dimensions are 383cm/12'6"x375cm/12'
With the wheelhouse doors open to the aft deck, space has been made available for BBQs and celebrations including up to 40 people.
The extensive wheelhouse acts as our guest room with a full size pull out sofa. The helm is a sleek, clean space designed by an aeronautical engineer. We have a television/computer monitor with a Freesat box and Logitech surround sound on the helm which allows for easy satellite connection and entertainment via a Maxview Roof Mount 85cm satellite system complete with twin LNB . This system has allowed us to receive television signals (UK Freesat) all the way to the furthest south on the Canal du Midi. The windows in the wheelhouse are covered on the sides with accordion pleated blinds (off-white) which open from the bottom up or from the top down depending on your privacy choice. The front windows and the windows on the double doors have custom made lined curtains for privacy when using as a bedroom.
The wheelhouse has two radiators for heating purposes and one fire extinguisher. The wheelhouse dimensions are 446cm/14'6"x263cm/8'6"x192/6'3".
Down the stairs from the wheelhouse is the centralized living area (during the cooler months) including a fully fitted kitchen and living room/lounge. This area is a lovely open living area with loads of luxurious space. The windows are large and allow for maximum sunlight. Four of the windows in this area are double glazed with two, one on either side, single glazed that slide open for cool breezes in the summer.
The kitchen is fitted out with granite counter tops and back splash. The hob is a Bosch induction hob that was new as of 2017. The oven is a Whirlpool convection/microwave/broiler There is a Smeg dishwasher and a full size refrigerator/freezer. The dining area has an island and shelves for storage with 2 bar stools (2 extra folding bar stools for company for a total of 4) and built in storage along one wall for all your storage needs regarding dishes, small appliances, food and beverages.
The walls throughout this area have been painted in Farrow&Ball's "Shaded White" modern emulsion. This allows for light, bright living even in the winter months. Engineered cherry hardwood floors run throughout the entire interior apart from the bathroom and utility areas. The living room has been fitted with an Italian sectional sofa designed specifically for this space. It is upholstered with a washable micro fiber fabric which lends itself beautifully for easy care and comfortable seating. In addition to the sofa there is a custom slip covered lounge chair and ottoman. In this area we have a 52" HD wall mounted flat screen smart TV with Sony surround sound and sound bar system. Along one wall is a custom built floating shelf, handcrafted in France, that can be removed to allow the removal or repair of one of the two radiators in the living room. There is one fire extinguisher in between the living area and the kitchen. There is LED lighting throughout this living space. The central living area dimensions are 264.2cm/19'8"x368.3cm/12'x205cm/6'7"
The central corridor leading out of the living room opens into a utility/storage area with a door to the right opening into a fully fitted bathroom that includes a Phoenix whirlpool tub/shower with a 204cm/6'7" head clearance. The bathroom and utility/storage area were completely updated as of February 2018. Italian ceramic tile (grey) was installed on the floors of both of these spaces. The bathroom walls (around the tub/shower)and back splash were tiled in Spanish crackled subway tiles (grey) and sealed. The remaining bathroom walls were papered in the Italian designer, Fornasetti, "Acquario" wallpaper. The toilet system is a household (non-marine) electric system that works amazingly well. The cabinet doors and trim in the bathroom have been finished in Annie Sloan "French Linen" chalk paint with a clear wax finish.
The utility/storage area is finished in Farrow&Ball "Shaded White" modern emulsion with trim done in Annie Sloan "French Linen" chalk paint with clear wax finish. The utility/storage area and the bathroom each have a medium size brass porthole. The utility area is fitted with built in cabinets for storage along with a Whirlpool washing/drying machine, an electric ice maker, Black and Decker floor steamer and a rechargeable Electrolux two in one lightweight floor/handheld vac.

There are built-in cupboards along either side of this cabin for maximum clothing/linens, etc. storage. There are built-in side tables along with wall mounted reading lights on either side of the head board. There is an escape hatch on the furthest wall of the main bedroom into the front locker.
