Gypsy started life delivering cheese and vegetables around Holland as an open deck sailing boat with lee boards. In the late 1960s she was converted - fitted with a engine and the mild-steel cabin was built - she later spent time in France and came to England around 2002.
In recent years, she’s had some significant upgrades to transform her into a fully functional liveaboard boat. Since 2022, Gypsy has been given a complete overplate to wind-and-water – effectively a new 5?mm hull below the waterline – which was blasted and treated with four layers of epoxy and four layers of bituminous paint. This durable finish makes repairs easy in London waters. She also comes equipped with four 295W solar panels, four 110Ah Victron AGM batteries, and a Victron Multiplus 3kW inverter. To keep the interior nice and cosy, a copper Refleks diesel burner has been installed for winter warmth, complemented by a gas boiler ensuring a steady supply of hot water.
Most recently, in 2024, the old 1960s engine was removed and replaced with a professionally installed Volvo Penta MD31A – with the engine bilge stripped and repainted during the process.
Owner selling due to change in circumstances. As described above, the boat is fully-functional as an off-grid home, but having prioritised function the boat is in need of cosmetic finishing to make her shine.

A Refleks diesel stove (60MKL 5.8 Kw) was installed professionally by Lockgate Stoves in 2022, which keeps the cabin space constantly warm in the winter months. In 2023 a Pegaso Eco 6 instant boiler was installed to keep hot water in constant supply.

Gypsy is powered by a 62hp Volvo Penta MD31A, which was refurbished professionally in 2024 by Marine Enterprises of Dorset. The engine is raw-water cooled, and the shaft for the strainer is installed vertically which is easy to clear in case of leaves or algae in the summer months. There are 2no. 90L stainless steel tanks, separated by a valve, in the interest of having sufficient fuel for both cruising and heating the cabin space.
