My project is finally for sale; the original boat is a Formula 29PC twin engine motorboat.
I’ve owned the boat for a number of years now and its currently in a boat yard in the Midlands where I set about restoring her. The hull and fiberglass of the original boat are in very good condition and were very well made by Formula Boats back in 1990. I acquired the boat in Cornwall and moved her to the Midlands so I could restore her.
The original interior was in need of a little TLC but after some investigative work we found that the internal floors had water in them and the timber from within it had rotted, the interior was striped back to the hull and all of the rotting wood was replaced with modern composites, there is a little work still to do to finish this but only days not weeks.
The engines on the boat were Volvo Penta 6 cylinder units which when removed and inspected were not good enough for a simple refurb so we purchased NEW Styer 6 cylinder Monoblock Engines, these engines are lighter and add 60 HP to the total, the engine bay was completely stripped, fuel tanks were refurbished to suit the new engines, new engine mounts were made with a new exhaust and refurbished drive legs, one of the engines is fitted as is the control harness, the second unit was left out so there was room to work in the engine bay for all of the equipment. Neither engine has been run by me.
Electrical Equipment: this has been completely replaced with Victron equipment. Shore isolating Transformer, Multi Inverter, Cabling and so on. There is still work to do here but the bulk of the spend is done.
Navigation: Ray marine equipment was selected with 3 screens on the dash 2 x 7”, 1 x 10”, 3D sonar is fitted.
Trim system: the Volvo trim blades have been fitted.
Decking seating and Helm chairs were fully restored and custom artificial teak decking was purchased for the whole boat. Still to be fitted. We started to refurbish the saloon furnishings. The galley was rebuilt with a Wallis diesel cooker never used. A new water system, part fitted with new pumps, pipes and filters. Head linings were recovered and should still be good.
Audio, a new Fusion A/V system was purchased with 2 zones and 10” Sub.
