The boat is now booked in for blacking at the end of Sept, which is included in the asking price. This will be an ideal time for a survey, while the boat is out of the water. So the new owner will have a freshly painted and blacked boat. This would be an ideal time for a cruise to be able to show you the ropes of Zwerver if that is something you were interested in.
I am selling my beloved Zwerver after living on her for the last 7 years. Zwerver is a fabulous boat to cruise, and very manageable single handed. I have cruised all around London, and over to Bath and back solo and found it so easy. Now enjoying a nice private mooring on the edge of London. Nature is on the doorstep and London is easily accessible
Originally an Iron hull from approx 1920s, now fully steel overplated. She is 9ft wide and 43ft long, with wide gunnels, and turns easily. At the back of the boat is the control deck with steering wheel on top of the engine bay. There is a large, Mercedes OM636 keel cooled engine which means she can tackle going up river on the Thames easily.
100l diesel fuel tank
3x 110ah leisure batteries and 1x 110ah starter battery (new).
Waeco 50 amp battery charger
Mains electric hook, high speed internet and water point all beside the mooring
Webasto water heater for hot water and central heating
Blacked in 2022 and new anodes
BSS safety until 2027
Surveys from 2014 and 2018 available
Moving forward is the covered section with pram hood that acts as a porch. There are 2x 200w large solar panels that are situated over the pram covering to get a lot of sun, even in winter. Inside the porch area there is a washing machine, dryer, gas bottle, 400l water tank and ample space for storage.
Entering the boat the kitchen with 12v Waeco fridge is on the left. Dometic 4 ring gas cooker with grill and oven.
On the right is the toilet and shower. There is a pump out toilet installed, but I have been using a composting toilet as it is easier. The pump out is cleaned and could easily be used again, and there is pump out facilities in a nearby marina. Good storage and good size shower. I am 6'1" and the whole boat is a good size for me.
There are large windows on each side of the boat letting in lots of light looking out onto the garden on one side and the canal and hedges on the other. In the main living area there is a desk with 12v monitor, sofa and Salamander 'Hobbit' stove with double insulated flue and chimney. It is a versatile space depending on how you need to use it any one time. Easy for working from home and comfortable for relaxing on the longer winter nights. The stove keeps the whole boat warm all through the night, and the boat is well insulated with Celotex
The bedroom is a lower height, and although its not possible to stand, is a double bed with more than enough space to sit up in bed easily. This helps the space stay warm in the winter and feels very cosy. There is lots of space for clothes storage, with hanging clothes behind the door, and more storage space under the bed. I have a battery powered HD projector that connects to wifi, which I will consider leaving as it fits the space so well, lets talk!
The boat is on an 'end of the garden' type mooring. There are a few boats here, mostly with liveaboards and we are next to the main property of the landlords. It is possible to transfer the mooring, at the landlords discretion. They specify no pets and no kids. The mooring has electricity which is paid by a top up meter, and waterpoint which is just a hose length away, high speed internet. There is secure parking, and they are always looking to improve the moorings. Zwerver is in a lovely private spot with nobody needing to pass by, very quiet, and tranquil. There is sun for the solar and shade in the summer.
I have been painting the outside of the boat all summer and nearly finished, the weather has not been helpful. While this is not a project boat, if you want to see if before it is finished then I will be more open to offers. I will happily be working away anyway.
I am selling as my work is having me travel more and I would like to pass Zwerver on to the next loving owner. She is a very special boat, now on a very special mooring.
