67ft of design perfection, this 1920’s converted steel barge has been the subject of nearly a decade of work with a huge amount of love to create what you see today.
Built in the 1920’s, FLO was originally a working barge, 12 years ago she underwent the transformation into a floating home by the current owners who are both an interior designer and a carpenter by trade. The attention to detail really shows in the clever design of living space and level of finish.
The boat revolves around an open plan living/kitchen space which is both perfect for entertaining or relaxing alone while the world passes by.
The kitchen was designed specifically for this space with a mixture of Harvey Jones Shaker style cabinetry on the working side and a mix of shaker and flat fronted bespoke storage comprising of a double larder & four tall storage cupboards for coats, utilities etc. Its hand painted in mallard green brushed brass accessories (If Green isn’t for you, then a simple re-paint will transform this kitchen)– The kitchen spec includes a gas range cooker, Integrated & ducted extractor, ceramic sink with instant boiling water tap! And quartz worktops. Also, great quality appliances: Integrated Miele dishwasher, microwave & steam oven.
The main living space is cosy, either light the log fire for winter evenings or open the double glazed, aluminium windows to allow the sea breeze in during the summer months. The engineered oak floor runs through the kitchen, dining room and into the lounge, where the log burner is sat on a honed granite hearth. For additional, consistent heating the open plan living area has electric heated ceilings.
A long low sideboard is built in to maximise storage potential but also conceal the curvature of the boat, as well as a custom dresser which sits pitch of the ceiling. There is a mix of ceiling pendant lighting and four dimmable wall lights which create a lovely ambience.
A master double bedroom can be found in the aft of the boat, which offers a 2.4m hanging wardrobe space and a built in 1.6m triple door wardrobe. In addition, plenty of space for free standing furniture of your choice. The windows are a slimline aluminium profile matching the lounge and meet fire safe regulations. Heating is an electric radiator which is very economical in the winter months.
Beyond the bedroom is a storage room for ski equipment, luggage bags and such like. A bit like an attic but on a boat.
Forward is a bedroom which previously had a raised double bunk bed but is currently used as a nursery. (The double custom double bed is available for those who would like it) Heating is an electric radiator which is very economical. A large Velux window floods this room with natural light.
The bathroom can be found on the upper deck and comprises of shower with glass walls for ease of cleaning, a large stand-alone bath, sink, toilet and built in storage cupboard.
Forward of this space and accessed via the side deck is the utility/storage room homing the boiler, two large gas bottles, open shelving & a stacked washer & dryer.
The large open deck is excellently laid out for relaxing, entertaining, BBQing and lots of plants.
Currently located on the Hamble River, the berth is available for renting via the yard or we can help assist with relocating.
