Premier Houseboats are pleased to present Tyne Princess, an historic ferry with enormous character, spacious accommodation and cruising capabilities. In her history she has been used as a passenger ferry, and also as a supply ship for Radio Caroline Tyne Princess was in dry dock four years ago where all work recommended was been carried out. She was also painted, and had anodes fitted
Tyne Princess was originally a ferry licensed to carry 340 people. She has been converted to a houseboat, and has immense character as well as plenty of living space. with lots of original features. The current owners have spent the last four years refurbishing her to create a more functional and comfortable home, and are only selling due to relocation. The large open plan lounge area has been stripped of it's original built is seating to create a much more homely living area which includes a large wood burning stove and large windows on both sides making the lounge extremely light. There is also a separate enclosed office area . The galley is traditional in shape and offers plenty of work surface and storage, together with gas oven, fridge and freezer..
A corridor leads to the new bathroom, with stand alone bath with shower attachment, toilet and hand basin. Next door to this is a good sized double bedroom, again with plenty of storage options and space.
There are patio doors leading to a nice outside space where you can enjoy your surroundings in comfort. Stairs lead down to a large open sleeping area that currently has room for three double berths and built in storage, which with some thought could be redesigned and compartmentalised if needed.
Mechanically the boat is sound, and went to and from dry dock under its own power. The Gardner 8L3B engine is a much sought after and well thought of engine, and was run regularly until a year ago. It would need a service but apart from that is in good working order.
The front of the boat houses the wheelhouse and another good sized outside area, including the oil fired boiler which provides hot water and runs the full central heating system.
Tyne Princess is a unique houseboat offering character, space and the ability to cruise if needed, and comes on a residential mooring in a small, family run marina on the river Medway, and offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy life afloat.
