Description

Albert is a 40 foot Narrowboat that has been looked after very well. The most important part of a narrow boat is the hull and a survey done eight years ago said the hull was in very good condition and all works recommended then were done. Since then Albert has been out of the water twice, stripped back to metal, inspected and blacked on both occasions. The last time was only this month and you can see pictures of Albert being taken back to the metal and blacked with three coats of high-quality blacking. At the same time some welding was done and the water tank was completely stripped out cleaned back to metal, lined with very expensive waterproof rubber paint, new strengthening structure welded in and a whole new top plate welded in including side plates and plates across the gas locker. As well as over £4500 being spent on blacking and revising the water tank, last month £500 was spent on a full diesel and diesel tank clean. Outside, Albert is finished in high-quality Craftmaster narrowboat paint and when just out of the water was cleaned and received another coat on the sides and roof. Albert has a very dependable Lister 3 engine which was stripped down and rebuilt a couple of years ago by marine engineer. Albert also has a current BSS. Inside Albert is very cozy, has a two ring hob, a Rayburn stove, and a wood burner that in the depths of winter will get you so warm you actually need to open the doors and windows sometimes! Please ignore the slightly cluttered interior, all will go and be a blank canvas unless of course you want the IKEA chairs, table and mattress etc. as this can be included in the sale. Albert also has a brand-new recently installed and never used instantaneous gas water heater for the butler sink in the kitchen and the shower. Albert has a duck hatch and a surprising amount of outdoor space for the spring, summer and autumn and solar with LED lighting which charges the batteries 9 months of the year. Albert was built in the days when steel was top quality and Albert was built to last.
