Currently ashore in Cork Harbour and being readied for launching in May, Drumfire is a meticulously maintained Kingscruiser 33, a Swedish designed mast head sloop built in Finland to Lloyds standards (recorded on builder’s plate).
Drumfire features a deep, well sheltered self-draining cockpit, a lead fin keel providing an almost 50% ballast ratio, the main deck is wide and almost flush and features a low stainless steel hand rail leading around the mast and back to the cockpit on both sides.
Known for their heavy-duty construction and 50% ballast ratio, Kingscruiser 33s are highly regarded for their sea worthiness and interior space. Drumfire is a fast and efficient passage maker and a safe comfortable cruiser.
Owned by me for the last 19 years and wintered ashore every winter, Drumfire is based on the South Coast of Ireland, and has cruised extensively along the South and South West coasts of Ireland with the occasional trip to the Scillies. She has also occasionally raced in white sail events with a competitive handicap of 0.89 (twice wining the Cobh Blackrock race).
The saloon is finished to a high quality of joinery offering a warm atmosphere and features a large U-shaped settee on the starboard side and a straight settee on the port side, centred around a folding dining table. The area can comfortably seat more than 6 people. Accommodation is provided for 6 with two in a separate vee berth cabin forward.
Propulsion is provided by an ultra-reliable 20 hp twin cylinder Bukh DV2O fully serviced every year and underwent a full overhaul in 2018. A 17” three bladed max-prop feathering propellor is fitted.
Sails have been serviced for the 2026 season by UK sail makers Cork.
Mainsail is a 2022 fully battened UK sailmakers white dacron in perfect condition.
Genoa is a 2011 roller reefing Fastnet sails white dacron with foam luff pad and blue UV strip in excellent condition.
