The Crow's Nest is a 45ft (6'9" beam) narrowboat located in Bristol Marina and is a wonderful example of a home afloat! She comes with a sought-after liveaboard mooring* giving you the opportunity to live affordably in a beautiful part of central Bristol. She offers stunning views across the water to the iconic multi-coloured houses of Hotwells and Cliftonwood, and to the nearby SS Great Britain.

The Marina is a 15-20 minute walk to Bristol city centre and is accessed by secure gates with coded entry. Marina facilities that come free with the fees include a toilet and shower block, refuse and recycling collection, car parking and water points. There is also a laundry . The friendly office offers post and parcel receipt and purchase of gas. Electricity hook-up and water points are provided adjacent to the mooring. Marina residents form a small, friendly and helpful community. Residents are exempt from Council Tax. (Please note that the Marina is independently owned and is separate from the Harbour where Bristol City Council's proposals have caused controversy. The Marina sets its own fees and these are not affected by the proposed hikes at the Harbour).

Built in 1989, the Crow's Nest makes for a comfortable home. Work undertaken on her in recent years includes:

* Full epoxy blacking of hull - should be good until 2029
* Resealing of window seals across all windows
* Resealing of ventilation units on ceiling
* Wood burner stove chimney reinstalled and resealed
* De-rusting of hull under floorboards
* Full engine repair
* New batteries and battery charger fitted (2023)
* New bilge pump (2023)

The internal living space has been renovated and improved most prominently with a recently fitted reclaimed wooden floor, fully varnished, running from the living area through to the end of the kitchen. Other improvements include curtains replaced throughout, along with interior redecoration.

Access to the boat is through double doors at the bow of boat. The entrance leads into the living area, with plenty of room for dining and for relaxing. This leads on to the kitchen area, which is equipped with a gas oven with 4 hobs, a microwave and fridge, plus a sink with taps for both general use and for drinking water. The cupboards have a good amount of storage space. The kitchen leads into the bathroom area with a cassette toilet, sink, cupboard space and fully working shower (powered by pump) and a small bath. Beyond this is the bedroom which is a lovely space with a double bed (included in sale) and room for drawers/storage units. There’s also a decent amount of storage space under the bed. A door in the far wall gives access to the engine room which also offers a good amount of storage space. The stern of the boat is complete with tiller and gives access to the engine room from the outside.

The Crow’s Nest has a fully-working Isuzu 3KR-1 Diesel engine and is fitted with a DC 12V battery and 24V AC electric system which runs from a hookup on pontoon. Heating is powered from the electricity supply (nearly-new electric heaters are included in the sale) and a calorifier provides hot water for the shower and from taps in the kitchen. Moreover, a Morso Squirrel wood burning stove is a beautiful addition to the boat and warms up the living area very well when required. We’ve particularly enjoyed sitting by the fire on a winter’s evening! Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are fitted in the living area. A propane gas system powers the gas oven with gas canisters located in a storage unit outside on bow of boat, and gas available from the Marina office. A large water tank is located in the hull at the bow end, and is fillable from the adjacent mains.

The Boat Safety Certificate is valid until May 2025.
