FISHER KING - Fully-fitted cruiser style 16.75m (55ft) narrowboat for sale. Navy blue enamel with black canvas. Very low engine hrs and ideal liveaboard.
For sale, a privately owned, well maintained and modernised narrowboat. The boat was commissioned and managed by British Waterways Marinas Limited (registered number 04930453), on behalf of the first private owner and built by Northern Pride Narrowboats. The commissioning contract is available to interested parties. The British Waterways Marinas Limited Agreement for the Supply of a new 55ft Traditional Stern Narrowboat outlines the specification of the boat, initial contact price and payment including the payment of VAT (Para 3.1). It is the second owners who are selling the boat having owned it for just over six years. Because this is a two ownership, leisurely used boat, as opposed to a continuous cruiser or ex-hire boat, it has a low reading of 1048.6 hrs (as at 3 February 2026). Average leisure narrow boats log between 50 and 150 hours per year. Fisher King has averaged 52.4 hours a year. More importantly, the boat has been regularly serviced and starts on the button.
The Declaration of Conformity was signed on 4/04/2006, (a detailed document and operating manual, specifying everything about the boat). The hull length is 16,76m(55ft). Beam 2.08m(6ft 10’’). Design draught 457mm(18”) forward and 558mm(24”) aft (including skeg). A welded steel construction by STS Boats. 10.0mm base plates, 6mm side plates, 5mm cabin side plate and 4mm cabin roof plates. The Boat has been blackened twice in the last five years, the most recent one during the week of 4 July 2024. At this point a new long button rope fender, V Bow fender, turnbuckles and sink plated chains were fitted. New bolts were fitted to the tiller. A comprehensive file of photographs are available before and after the blackening at the Seagull Dry Dock in Ratho. All six magnesium anodes, above required specification have been fitted and the boat has been given the once over by a local marine engineer, who has said he is impressed by the condition of the steelwork. The sellers would be happy for the boat to be examined by an external surveyor, if required.
The entire topside of the boat was stripped back and repainted with Rylard painting systems in 20/21. New stainless steel Deck Plates, Fairleads, etc, were fitted. The small sections of the roof, front and rear deck will be painted before the point of sale (or reflected in the sale price) - ongoing maintenance items that were already scheduled to be carried out in Spring 2026.
Internally the brass switches and hinges have been replaced with stainless steel and brushed stainless steel. The old brass fittings are available, including curtain poles. New marine grade stainless steel vents have been installed throughout the boat.
The Boat Safety Certificate was carried out on 9 February 2026 and will be available to the new purchaser. No advisories, but the examiner made an observation that one of the belts need to be tightened in engine. Arrangements have been made to get a diesel mechanic to tighten the belt. The last one was carried out on 17/2/2022 when the boat had a clean bill of health with no advisories. The examiner was impressed by the new battery wiring.
Fisher King has had significant refurbishment and modernisation in the last five years at a cost in excess of £11,000 in materials, excluding labour. This excludes the costs associated with blackening and general maintenance.
Modernisation and improvement investment in the last five years including many invoices and details are available in comprehensive files, which any interested parties can review.
