Blue Lantern is a Nelson 34 Pilot House version which was one of those used by the Thames Police/Customs in London and then as the main committee boat for the Royal Yacht Squadron. I am the third owner. This heritage has meant that she has been well care for and has had several major refits including the two new Perkins Sabre 215C engines – now c2600hrs each. These are their robust 6 cylinder commercial engines. They start instantly and have been 100% reliable for us. As you might expect for a vessel commissioned for work, she has quite limited accommodation down below but a large cockpit. This has proved to be great for family outings but would also be ideal for fishing or diving operations. She is much admired wherever she goes.
She was surveyed for me last year (2022) and I have the full report – minimal recommendations but all subsequently carried out anyway. She is currently afloat in Yarmouth Harbour close to the ferry terminal.
