Description

Built to the hull design by Charles and Peter Nicholson, FORERUNNER II was the last of the series of composite Nicholson 36’s constructed in the period 1960 to 68.
The GRP hull moulding was by Halmatic,with final fit out by John Perry of Emsworth.
FORERUNNER was commissioned for the One Ton Cup of 1968, and built with a Transom stern as the counter had a rating disadvantage, resulting in a reduced overall length at 10m compared to the other 16 or so composite Nicholson 36’s. C& N yard no A376. The cockpit layout provides plenty of space for helmsman and crew.
She has been actively used through the years, including ocean and channel crossings, but by 2020 was in need of a serious refit including a completely new deck of Marine Ply, epoxy sheathed, a new interior layout with comfortable space for 4. The original Proctor mast was replaced by a Z Spars one incorporating in-mast furling making for easy shorthanded sailing. New mainsail with the new mast. A new Harken genoa furler was also fitted,
In 2020 the engine was replaced with a modern Nanni 3-30 inboard diesel(29hp) , which has run approximately 55 hours.
