Kano is a head turner, a 60’ Norton Canes Tug style narrowboat launched in 2001 after the interior was completed by the renowned Blue Haven Marine - and the quality shows throughout. She is also a gas free boat, the powerful 9Kva generator is under the front deck powering the 240V system (if the 1200 ah 24V battery system to the Tracer 3KW inverter isnt enough!)
She is in wonderful condition, having benefitted from blacking with 2pk epoxy in May 2024, and a survey from March 2019 is available for viewing in the office.
The huge 8’ 3” tug deck offers an outdoor area as well as a large space under, housing the generator, Eberspacher heating system, water tank, domestic diesel tank, storage....and a 4’6” wide bed rolled under.
The boat is entered from the back end, the wide hatch and clever folding step make this easy, into the traditional back cabin, decorated by the late Ron Hough. It has a Premier range, and the apparent table/biscuit drawer and bottom cupboard have been cleverly turned into a full length cupboard. A spare cross bed double is housed here as well, just as you would expect.
The 5’0” engine room follows housing the Lister HRW3, with side hatches either side bringing in additional light and fresh air.
Next is the 6’0” walk through bathroom featuring a glass quadrant shower, ceramic Jabsco pump-out loo, heated towel rail and a striking green acrylic basin over vanity cupboard.
A simple galley follows boasting space (8’2”) and storage cupboards a-plenty as well as full size electric oven and hob, easy access fridge and side hatch with steps. There is also a Reflex diesel stove in here.
The 14’0” saloon is open plan with a dinette, folding chairs, side hatch, lots more storage surprises and then you find the bed, hidden under the tug deck. It slides out easily to give you a large 6’2” x 4’6” double. The TV point is here, neatly housed in a corner cupboard.
She is centrally heated by the Eberspacher diesel fired boiler connected to low level radiators. Hot water is via the engine, Eberspacher, and immersion (with either generator or landline).
She also comes fully equipped with an estimated 500w of solar, with a Victron MPPT solar charge controller.
A beautiful combination of all the best of the modern coupled with a flavour of the past.
