9ft Hand built Pram dinghy, commissioned to be a tender too a Classic wooden Ketch, launched 1997. Built by Fabian Bush a Shipwright Boatbuilder of Rowhedge, Essex.
She has her own rig and white Lug sail. A very eye-catching dinghy, a delight to sail. Dagger board keel. 2 x Buoyancy Bags. Canvas covered rope fendering.
Varnish work, sole boards need reviving re brightening.
Dimensions 9 ft x 4’ 3” (2.7m x 1.3m), moulded depth approx 18” (450mm); all-up weight approx 120 lb (55kg). SA – Sprit Rig - 45 sq ft (4 sq m).
This dinghy has a good load carrying capacity of up to 4 adults under oars with two rowing positions for trimming.
The case for the pivoting centreboard (a dagger board was not wanted) is built in further forward than usual to give adequate cockpit space for a single crew to sail the boat from a sitting position on the sole. This is compensated for by a larger rudder than usual, and was thought to be a fair compromise in a small boat. The rudder is a lifting rudder.
The boomless sprit sail is sheeted to thumb cleats on each quarter, the sheet being transferred when tacking.
The thwart arrangement consists of slats to give forward and aft seats while a central rowing position is given by the capping on the centreboard case. There is a raised sole on transverse floors to give a strong standing platform. Two removeable buoyancy bags are installed.
