The sigma 38 is just about my favourite fast 38ft cruiser from the 1980's. Favourite because they were the choice of the RAF Sailing Association for many years, and in RAFSA's 'Red Arrow' I cut my Yacht Master teeth , so to speak. A one design, which for many people was an out and out racer, nevertheless they also proved to be a comfortable and sea-kindly cruising yacht, easily handled by a competent couple or small crew. Our example here has brought home many a trophy for her current owner on our local club racing circuit but she has also been a family cruiser and we consider her to be in abo... read more

The Sigma 38 is a well proven cruiser/racer. Designed as a competitive one design class, still with good numbers racing in the UK, but with spacious accommodation onboard suitable for some fast cruising. This boat has been improved and set up for cruising.
We have had her for four years and put a lot of time and love into her. Living onboard and having our son (now 1) living onboard has been brilliant but with another on the way we need to find a bigger home. She is a real sailing boat with a powerful rig, capable of keeping up (and normally sailing past) most similar size modern yachts. ... read more

Sigma's have an excellent sailing reputation and the 38 is no exception, originally built as a new design to cope with tough ocean conditions. The Sigma 38, a One-design class boat, is a cruiser/racer, with the added comfort and spacious accommodation. The accommodation features two, double aft cabins, a large saloon with two single berths and a double cabin forward. There are also two smaller crew berths. The galley is a comfortable size for preparing meals and sits across from a sizeable navigation station.
This version has a good suit of sails, running rigging replaced in 2014 and ha... read more

The Sigma 38 alongside her little sister the 33, are one of those yacht designs that are instantly recognisable. 125 were built between 1988 and 1993 and they have remained popular, less so now as school and charter boats but well suited to sensible budget racers who value her one-design status but also her versatility to cruise with the family. There is an active class association and for those in the Solent a good turn out for the Fastnet (7 finished in 2017) and Cowes Week
