Details on heating system:
I lived on a boat without central heating and would not recommend it. Multi fuel stoves are fine once they get going but take about an hour to fully warm up barges which when you've come home late at night in the winter months is really unpleasant. With installation this state of the art Webasto heating system cost £2000 but was worth every penny. Just turn the dial and in 30 seconds you've got hot air pumping throughout the boat.
The solars work really nicely. Without solars you have to turn the engine on for 1-2 hours every couple of days to have enough electricity. This is a real chore and burns through fuel. These solars are powerful enough to provide electricity almost all year round with the exception of December and January where they still provide most of the electricity but you do have to turn the engine on for an hour once or twice a week (maximum) just to top up when needed.
The pioneer speaker system is a real flourish and definitely enriched my time on the boat. I've just installed a new bluetooth radio unit for it which means you can now play music off your phone.
The space on the boat is fantastic. There are plenty of places to sit and I regularly had friends round. There is also plenty of storage inside and above the boat underneath the solars.
In four years, touch wood, I never had any problems from the engine. Bukhs are known for their reliability.
The boat comes with a recommendation of an excellent Marine Engineer. He did most of the work on the boat and knows it inside out as a result.
