Description

Diligent Too is a charming 57’ trad stern narrowboat built in 2001 by Steve Hudson. As is fairly typical of Hudsons, she has a 15mm baseplate, and the hull was grit blasted, zinc coated, and 2 pk epoxy coated in April 2019. She also had a hull survey in October 2021, available for viewing in the office.
The well deck is covered by a good condition cratch cover (new in 2023) which zips up fully allowing crew to stand up straight. The 590L stainless steel water tank is housed below.
Steps lead down into the 12’0” saloon, with a half dinette (storage under bench) which converts to a spare single or cross bed double berth, a tub chair, Morso Squirrel solid fuel stove, and a couple of cupboards and shelves. A Houdini hatch over brings in extra light and fresh air.
The horseshoe galley follows (5’11”) with oak block worktops, 240v Comfee fridge/freezer, Thetford oven & grill, Thetford 4 burner gas hob, Belfast style ceramic sink, and more cupboards. A starboard side hatch brings in additional light and fresh air, as well as a Houdini hatch over.
Next is the 5’5” bathroom, with a bath and shower over, ceramic wash basin, Compoost composting toilet, and more storage. The original pump out waste tank is still installed.
The 9’0” bedroom features a fixed 6’6” x 4’0” double berth with a brand new mattress (just out the packaging!). There is also a very large wardrobe, and storage under the bed.
Steps lead into the 9’0” engine room, with the Beta JD3 engine on display. This was serviced in Autumn 2024. A portable Cosvalve washer is also housed here. Another step leads out onto the trad stern.
She is centrally heated by a back boiler on the Morso, with copper pipes along the starboard side. Hot water is via this back boiler, the engine, or an immersion when on landline.
12v power is via 3x 160ah domestics and 1x 105ah starter (all new 2023), topped up by 275w of solar with a Rover MPPT solar charge controller, with a Merlin Smart Guage battery monitor too. 240v power is via a Mastervolt 1200w inverter or landline. A Mastervolt charger and Mastervolt Isolation Transformer are also installed.
Lighting on board is LED throughout.
She is well equipped for extending cruising and could easily be used as a floating home.
