Southern Cross is a charming 60‘ traditional stern narrowboat built here by Stowe Hill Marine in 2001. She was blacked, surveyed and serviced prior to sale in April 2025.
She is fitted out in oak face ply with oak trim throughout, with carpet in the saloon, dinette and bedroom and lino elsewhere.
Entering the boat from the bow you are greeted by a large well deck (6’6”) with a glazed cratch board, this is an excellent space to sit with a gin and enjoy your surroundings. There is an 800 litre water tank below.
Stepping down the step into the saloon (10’6”) there are bench seats either side that can convert to a U-shaped area with table or a spare single berth. To the port side there are shelves with space for a TV and a Brunel solid fuel stove.
The galley is really well proportioned at 8’0” with plenty of storage for all your eating and drinking needs. The oven is a Vanette 7000 with a 4 burner hob and the fridge is a inlander 12v with ice box. There are side hatches to each side with steps to the port side.
We then head on to the dinette (6’4) which can convert to a spare double for guests. There is storage under and a cupboard over with shelves to the side. Going through the coridoor there is a pantry cupboard.
Off the coridoor is the bathroom (6’0”) with a pump out toilet connected to a stainless steel holding tank, quadrant shower with panelled sides and a ceramic sink counter suck into the cupboard.
Heading aft we then enter the bedroom which at 9’8” is very generous with a double bed that measures 6’3” x 4’0” but extending to 4’10” to give plenty of space for 2 to sleep, a large double wardrobe, and cupboards above and below the bed.
We now arrive at the engine room (6’3”) this again contains a good amount of storage and the Beta 1903 engine which was serviced in April 2025. Navigation is aided by an hydraulic bow thruster.
She is centrally heated by an Eberspacher diesel fired boiler connected to fin rads throughout. The hot water is by either the engine, Eberspacer or immersion.
12v power is from 6x 95ah leisure batteries (plus a starter), 240v power is either from the Victron Pheonix Combi inverter or the landline which is protected by galvanic isolator.
Lighting is halogen throughout.
She is ready to turn the key and go.
