We are selling our 2015 BayRaider Expedition (43) Wagtail. This a beautiful, well designed yawl which is both safe and fast. It is water ballasted meaning that it is easy to trailer but very safe and seaworthy. With the ballast tanks full she will self right from a 90 degree knock down; with the tanks empty she is lively and responsive; capable of planing off the wind. The masts are carbon fibre making them light and easy to handle by one person. The cockpit is huge and will accommodate 6 people comfortably; the full length double berth cabin will hold everyone’s gear or provide comfortable sleeping room for two people. The hull is reinforced and with the centreboard up it’s possible to safely beach the boat.
Wagtail comes with loads of extras including a braked trailer (last serviced in 2025), a powerful 6hp Tohatsu outboard (2024) with high thrust propeller and external fuel tank. A Superlight 3D Twinair tender (2024) is small and light enough to stow in a locker when not being towed. She comes with both the Mark 1 and Mark 2 jib systems (see Swallow Boats website for more details) which allows a choice between a self tacking jib (great for single handled sailing) or a fixed bowsprit with a roller furled jib and an asymmetric spinnaker. Wagtail has two anchoring systems: for day sails in sheltered waters the small ketch with weighted rope will be adequate; for more adventurous voyages we have added a 9.5kg Excel anchor with chain. Wagtail also benefits from Clipper depth and wind monitors powered by a rechargeable Bluetti EB3A portable power station, which will also keep smartphones and tablets charged for days.
Wagtail is a really beautiful boat in excellent condition but does have some cosmetic wear consistent with her age. There are some scratches on the hull, some wear to the woodwork and the spray hood is worn in places. The price has been set to reflect this, but given that a new boat would cost over £24000, this is an absolute bargain. We are selling reluctantly due to family circumstances which mean we no longer have the time to do her justice.
She is lying ashore under cover near Loch Melfort and is available for viewing.
