Rare opportunity to own a Thames Division (Metropolitan Police) Police Launch built circa 1958 by Tough Brothers of Teddington, London. Fibreglass construction around a stainless steel keel. 30 ft / 9.1m length, very solidly constructed to withstand the rigours of daily use, day and night, by the Police on the River Thames. Approx weight 3.5 tons. Currently lying Lake Windermere UK. Featured in the Eagle comic in 1958 in a cutaway drawing ! Also featured in Pathé news clips in the 1950’s (can be seen on You Tube), in a James Bond film and every year in the University Boat Race at the finish line.
The engine is a turbocharged diesel Perkins T6.354 in perfect working order, 24V electrics, totally reliable and under-stressed engine, will run all day on Windermere for about £10 in fuel. New full length water cooled exhaust including custom made stainless steel exhaust manifold. Full length cover in 3 sections, also rear “picnic” cover. Huge open deck to the rear, will easily take 10 – 12 people. Cabin seats 4, newly professionally retrimed. Inflatable tender 2.8m, fenders, warps, boat hooks, life rings, fuel cans etc etc. Also 12m marquee / tent for Winter maintenance.
Wooden decks have been added about 10 years ago, teak and iroko.
We have owned “Spectre” for 10 years and have spent many hundreds of hours restoring her and sourcing new parts, too many to mention here
