Description

Trident Marine Omega 828 twin diesel sports cruiser, "Red Omega". GRP "deep V" hull with teak deck, powered by two turbocharged 180 bhp Ford Sabre diesel engines. Cruises at 21-23 kts, with a top speed of around 30kts. Built by Trident Marine of Chichester in 1979, based on their Sonny Levi -designed Corsair hull mould. 8.28m on the waterline, and 8.9m overall. Engines were overhauled and serviced in 2025. Lying in Lymington.

Cabin with heads, galley and "dinette" table and seating. Twin v-berth, with dinette table lowering to form a small third berth.

Construction

GRP deep-V hull bonded to a one-piece GRP deck. Laid teak deck (2001) with teak gunwhale strake. Tek-Dek cockpit floor (2001).

Equipment

Two 220Ah engine batteries (2017), with key switches and cross-over switch. Domestic battery. Sterling 20A shore charger with cable.

Aft cockpit seat with fender storage underneath. CQR anchor with chain and warp, running into chain locker. Two boat hooks. Flag staff with red ensign.

Sterm swimming ladder and small rear platforms.

Cabin and cockpit lights. Cushions for all bunks and seats. Jabsco manual pump toilet (2003). Eberspacher cabin heating system 2kW. Sony radio and CD player, with cabin and cockpit speakers..

Navigation Equipment

Log, echo sounder, compass and navigation lights. Garmin 3010C plotter (UK & Ireland Charts) and Furuno plotter.
ICOM VHF IC-M59 with 1.8m antenna. Original vetus clear view screen.

Engine(s)

Twin Ford 180hp turbo diesel engines. Borg Warner Velvet drive gearboxes. Stainless steel shafts with Lasdrop Elite shaft seals, driving twin bronze propellers. Bennett trim tabs, operated from steering position.

Engines were rebuilt 2001. Recently overhauled with new head gaskets (2025), reconditioned cooling system (2025), replacement gearbox (2023) and turbo (2025), and full service (2025).

Safety Equipment

A Seafire engine bay extinguisher system (2017) and Halyard exhaust alarms (2017). Additional automatic engine bay fire extinguisher (2024).
