This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of history but with all the comforts of the 21st century. The Josher “Acacia” is one of six boats built by W.J. Yarwoods and Son at Northwich in 1931 with a coppered steel hull and elm bottom. She was commissioned for Fellows, Morton and Clayton and allocated fleet number 300. In 1990 she was sold to Francis Beechey who had the boat totally rebuilt by Graham Edgson of Norton Canes boat builders (renowned for his quality narrowboats and attention to details). This included a complete new steel base plate, new counter round, stern gear, complete new steel back cabin, engine room and steel superstructure, decks, gunwhales - the list is endless! She was then fitted out by Trevor Ward at Norton Canes to an extremely high standard that you would expect from such a craftsman. She has recently undergone a considerable amount of work here at Norbury Wharf which has included, docking and blacking in International Intertuf 16, a set of 4.5kg anodes, complete professional repaint in her 1931 livery including traditional sign writing, the back cabin has been redecorated and the whole boat has been given the attention that she deserves. Acacia has a traditional boatman’s cabin which is highly decorated in traditional style and adorned by Dave Moore’s outstanding “Roses and Castles”. The cabin is fully dressed and heated by an Epping solid fuel range. She is powered by one of the best engines produced; a Gardner 4LW, that sits proud in a spacious engine room which is complete with original long distance fuel tank as fitted by Fellows, Morton and Clayton. The layout from the fore-end includes: a large well deck with a varnished wooden planked floor, large saloon, fully fitted galley, shower room with full sized shower and macerator pump out toilet and finally the double bedroom with large wardrobe. Heated throughout by radiators fed from a Kabola diesel boiler located in the engine room. This boat must be seen to appreciate the attention to detail that has been put in to this boat. Current Boat Safety Certificate and mooring available at Norbury Junction. For further information please do not hesitate to contact us.
