The Beneteau 40.7 was a popular choice in racing fleets and seen competing all over the globe. The boat preformed and rated well under various class racing handicap systems. They also had creature comforts below deck and could be used as fast cruisers as per this example which had just crossed the Atlantic in the ARC Rally December 2023.

French production boatbuilders Beneteau require no introduction from me, having been in business since 1884! The First 40.7 was initially designed by Bruce Farr in 1999 and very quickly gained popularity with nearly 700 produced in total. I would imagine they are probably the best known of the cruiser-racers, they still turn up in numbers at club regattas all over the country and as a family cruising boat they offer excellent accommodation as well as being fun to sail
