Aurora, beautiful little Drascombe Driver for sale. 18 feet in length with a draught of 17 inches. Gross weight 800 lbs, 73 inch beam and yawl rig with tan/reddish sales. Mahogany decking, plenty of storage space and in very good order. Built in the mid 1970s and has been used for sailing and fishing from its mooring in Tenby Harbour, south west Wales. Now out of the water and can be viewed near Tenby. Included in the sale is the cover, anchor, mooring ropes, fenders, road trailer, and the outboard engine. One of my all time favourites from the Drascombe range, I first encountered the Drascombe Drifter whilst serving in the Falkland Islands following the unhappy events of 1982. In 1987 I arrived down South , a type of normality had been established (Normal for Falklands) ; Mare Harbour had been constructed for the use of the Royal Navy (although it was run by the Army) so naturally, as an RAF Officer, I was put in charge of the two recreational sailing boats based therein! A One-Off, this Drascombe Driver Cruiser 'Egeria' (Egeria was a nymph attributed a legendary role in the early history of Rome as a divine consort) was built in Scotland by the highly regarded Norman Whyte of Findhorn, to the requirements of one Stephen Schlemmer, himself a highly regarded Drascombe enthusiast. Approximately 55 Drivers were constructed by several builders between 1974 - 78, however this one was built in 1994 to special order.
