World Leaders in Waterway Cleanup

A simple mission

Provide cost effective, efficient solutions to help clean up our marine environment.

Over 200 of our debris collection and trash retrieval workboats operate around the world, combating the growing tide of plastics in our seas including Hong Kong, New York, Cape Town, Kuwait, and London.

Our range of workboats have been developed to offer users a versatile, multi-purpose craft or pontoon boat that can perform a wide range of duties in addition to efficient aquatic trash and debris removal.

Problems With Debris and Plastic Trash

Marine Debris can consist of household garbage, food containers, wood and logs, trees, sewage, oil, aquatic vegetation and dead fish, but a significant portion of the pollution will be from commercial and industrial operations. Whilst fishing gear, cargo, oil and other marine waste are possible ocean sources, most marine debris comes from land-based sources, either through storm outlets, fly-tipping or discarded litter. Most of this trash is made of non-degradable plastics such as bottles, carrier bags, food and household containers and poses a significant threat to our marine environment. Ultimately, these items end up as micro-plastics and contaminate our fish stocks and food chain.

The Versi-Cat is extremely adaptable for a huge range of applications ranging from fast-response to pollution control needs, to mobile pump out  service, mooring lifting (with removable lifting frame), diving and maintenance support. This vessel really earns her keep!

The design incorporates a variety of ‘pods’ that sit between the twin hulls enabling many tasks to be undertaken. The pod system allows heavy items to be loaded directly onto the quayside and lifted onto the vessel via a crane with no need to manhandle the equipment to the water.

Marine Litter and Trash Collection

The Versi-Cat’s principle function is the efficient collection of litter, debris and aquatic vegetation from the water surface into a removable basket, which can be lifted and tipped directly into a skip or shore side receptacle for disposal. The design allows floatables to simply collect between the hulls without any complex equipment or machinery. When not in collection mode the basket can be winched up to ensure good transit speeds, and the system can even be operated with the deck plates in position. The 7m and 8m hulls offer a spacious working deck area with room for waste sorting.

Load Carrying

The Cargo Pod is designed specifically for transporting up to 1 tonne of cargo and equipment for use on or off the water. The pod can be craned in and out of the Buddy empty or full, allowing the operator to keep a range of pre-configured pods on hand for jobs such as discrete mobile pump-out and grey water storage, wash down and waste disposal. Harbour operators can efficiently service boats on berth or at anchor with their liquid and solid waste disposal requirement and flexible storage options include built in holding tanks or portable IBC containers.

Electric Propulsion

Using the latest technology, we can now offer fully electric propulsion for our Versi-Cat trash skimmer vessels. This allows our customers to benefit from considerably lower maintenance and running costs as well as zero emissions operation.

A tried and tested solution

Water Witch have over 50 years’ experience. From the early 1960s working in the Liverpool docks, our team have honed their skills, their experience and their equipment. We now operate across Europe and the Middle East with our range of customisable trash skimmers, barges and dredgers.

Our fleet are tried and tested. Currently, there are several projects underway to try and tackling ocean waste, but these are still in the proof of concept stage.

We partner with waterway management, and port authorities and tourist resorts to provide peace of mind. 18 billion pounds of plastic waste flows into the oceans every year from coastal regions.

Keeping Paradise Intact

In the last few years, the headlines have been dominated by the staggering amounts of waste and plastics polluting beaches and harbours in the world’s popular tourist destinations. This is having a massive negative effect on tourist numbers. People are now realising that in order to maintain business growth they need to be sustainable and manage their waste in an efficient and costly manner.

Water Witch work in a number of destinations across the world – from historic docklands to man-made resorts. We understand that having clean, safe and crystal clear water is often the number one selling point of a destination. Being clean and green is now a priority for tourist resorts – but often hoteliers, resort operators and authorities lack the resources or equipment to maintain them.

We work with Marina, Dock and Waterfront operators around the globe. We know that your business needs a partner who can step in and manage your water environment with a minimal amount of hassle.

We ensure that your prestigious waterfronts are safe, attractive and clean.

We want your visitors to be delighted with your facilities and for you to be proud of your waterfront.

Water Witch trash skimmer and  waterway maintenance workboats can help you deliver efficient management and maintenance of your marine environment with minimal stress.
