Francis Charles Morgan-Giles (1883 – 1964) is synonymous with boats as both a designer and builder from Devon. He built rowing boats, dinghies, yachts and large motor cruisers. His boats were known for their high quality, elegance and craftsmanship. His boatyard in Teignmouth became famous internationally for the skilled craftsmen, shipwrights, engineers, joiners and the riggers he employed. He died in 1964. Michael Morgan-Giles, his son, continued with the yard.
75 Morgan Giles 30s were built between 1965 & 1996. Blue Dragoon was probably one of the last true Morgan Giles designs to be built by the yard and was launched in 1975.
Blue Dragoon is a long keel yacht with excellent sea keeping properties. She is traditionally rigged and has a good sail wardrobe including spinnakers with pole, numbers 1 & 2 genoas plus a storm jib.
Twin fore and back stays, slab reefing main. She has an easy to maintain and accessible 14 HP 2 cylinder Beta engine that drives her along at 5/6 knots
The current owners have sailed her extensively over the last 15 years so, if you are looking for a well proven, capable off-shore yacht, you will not go wrong with Blue Dragoon.
