I am selling my one-quarter share in Splash of Haslar, a 1998 Dufour Classic 32. This is a an opportunity to join a syndicate of four owners who share equally the costs of running a well-maintained cruising yacht berthed in Ipswich Beacon Marina. This boat has the shallow-keel option (1.25m) - ideal for exploring the East Coast and the rivers of Kent, Essex and Suffolk - and wheel steering. Use of the boat is by agreement among the syndicate, but, through the season, each owner could expect to use the boat for roughly a week per calendar month. It is equipped for coastal sailing and, for extended trips, is able to accommodate four or five crew in two cabins and the saloon. You will need to be competent skipper able to provide your own crew, but sailing with the other owners is an option. Annual running costs can vary significantly from year to year but in the last year were roughly £2,500 per owner. This includes berthing, insurance, maintenance, new equipment and most gas and diesel. Please contact me for further details.

There is a electric kettle and toaster for use with shore power. The forward cabin has a "vee-berth" for two people, two cupboards and two under-seat storage lockers. A section of the berth is removable to provide standing space. The aft-cabin has a notional berth for two persons, but in practice, this is a generous space for one. It also has a cupboard with hanging space and a standing area. The head has a Jabsco sea toilet (new in 2014), sink, storage and mirror.
The hull is a fibreglass/GRP construction with a shoal-draft keel weighing 1,275kg.
The boat has a wide range of equipment including: numerous fenders and mooring lines; a bow-mounted delta anchor and a separate kedge anchor; anchor snubber; mooring ball and inverted cone, bosun's chair, tools and spares. There is a Seago 2.6m inflatable dinghy (new in 2022) and a Honda 2.3hp outboard (new in 2019).
The navigation system is to NMEA 0183 standards. It incorporates an Autohelm tri-data speed, depth and temperature instrument (new log impeller in 2020), a Garmin GPS and an Autohelm wind instrument. The data can be read in the cockpit and at the chart table. In 2023, a NMEA 2000-standard Raymarine wheel pilot was fitted. There are bow lights plus a masthead tri-colour and all-round white light.
The current engine is a Beta Marine 20, fitted new in 2013. Drive is via a SeaProp 60 saildrive, fitted new in 2022. The propeller is a fixed two-blade with a HydroAxe rope-cutter, fitted new in 2024. The boat has starter and leisure batteries which can be charged from the engine or shore power. The engine also provides hot water for the galley and head, which can be supplemented by an immersion heater when attached to shore power. There are 13A sockets in the saloon and forward cabin (for use with shore power) as well as USB and 12V charging points. The main lighting has been converted to LED bulbs.
The boat is equipped with a mainsail and overlapping genoa. The mainsail has slab reefing and is rigged for three reefs. The mainsheet is attached to a short traveller mounted within the cockpit via a block and pulley system. There is a block and pulley kicking strap. The masthead genoa has Harken roller-reefing and performance benefits from long deck-mounted tracks for the sheet cars. There are two Lewmar winches for the genoa sheets and two winches - one on the coach roof and one at the mast - for the halyards and reefing lines. The mast has two spreaders. There is a light-airs whisker pole (new in 2023). The forestay and backstay are due for replacement, but the other standing rigging was new in 2018.
Safety equipment includes life raft, dsc VHF radio, inshore-water flares, two fire extinguishers, fire blanket, smoke/CO alarm, safety lines, dan buoy, horseshoe buoy (with light) and bolt cutters. (Skippers provide life jackets for themselves and their crew.) There is an electric bilge pump plus manual pumps operated from the head and the cockpit.
