The Dufour T7 is an extremely versatile 7 meter sailboat, fast, responsive, easily sailed in the confines of small harbours and equally capable of safe passages on the open sea. I’ve owned this vessel for the past 11 years. She has been extensively stripped down and refitted throughout. Her sails and equipment are in good condition and she is ready to sail. The boat comes with a twin axel fully braked trailer. She is able to be rigged and launched by just two people. I have sailed her on the East coast between the Farne Islands and Lowestoft, though mainly day sailing with my family from a drying mooring on the North Norfolk coast. She is a great looking yacht and a lovely vessel to sail. With her swing keel and lifting rudder, she can be beached and is afloat in just 30 cm of water. She has been lovingly looked after and is in great condition.
She was designed by Jean Louis Noir in the later 1970’s as a safe family cruiser, "allowing total independence". The prototype Dufour T7 was sailed in the 1979 Mini Transat Race from Penzance to Tenerife and onwards to Antigua, well over 4,000nm across the Atlantic Ocean. Daniel Gillard sailed the vessel singlehanded though several 40kt plus depressions and finished in 3rd place, from a fleet of 49 yachts.
The Central cockpit concentrates the main weight and ballast into the centre of the vessel reducing pitching and allowing a smooth motion through the waves. The engine well drains a large cockpit, which also allows easy access for outboard engine controls. Its position in the aft end of the cockpit avoids any prop cavitation in short choppy seas. Additionally the engine is easily lifted and fits into the starboard cockpit locker.
The cockpit separates two cabins. The aft cabin has two berths or ample space for stowage. The forward cabin has two berths, a table, cooking and navigation areas and a sea water toilet.
