History & Construction
This Dutch Barge was built in 1920 by a unknown Rotterdammer Shipyard for a Farmer family, to transport their Products to the Market. No engine, manually Tiller for the Rudder.
Her “second life” was destined to be a floating family home next to a dredger.
In the early 50's, begins her “third life”, a German took over the barge and transformed her in a charter boat to offer tours in the north of Holland.
After the death of her owner, -at the end of the 70s,- her "fourth life" came. Through the takeover by a Dutch family, who first used the ship for its intended purpose and sailed to southern Europe, but later used it mainly as a floating weekend home.
01/05/2009 we bought the KLENKES and that's when her “bright 5th. life" began. With the takeover, an expensive/extensive conversion and repair phase began where the two engines/gears and drive units were replaced, the rudder system was converted to double rudder with electro- hydraulic control (joystick), bow thruster was installed and the hull over-plated.
Diesel- and water tanks, boiler/pumps all Batteries (each 240 AH) have been replaced,
The entire electrical installation was also brought up to date and a new kitchen/stove and refrigerator were installed.
